Jack Dorsey Donates $5 Million To Support Bitcoin Protocol
Twitter co-founder and tech mogul Jack Dorsey has made a generous donation of $5 million to help support the development of the Bitcoin (BTC) protocol. This funding will be spread out over 5 years and given to Brink, an open source project dedicated towards improving the Bitcoin protocol and network through research and development.
Dorsey’s #smartsmall Fund
The money is being donated from Dorsey’s public LLC fund “#smartsmall”, which was initially created as a fund for global COVID-19 relief efforts. After the pandemic ends, he mentioned that he would shift his focus onto girls’ health and education as well as Universal Basic Income (UBI).
Coinbase Announces Partnership With Bitkey
Just last week on June 14th, top US crypto exchange Coinbase announced plans to integrate Bitkey – a self-custody wallet developed by Dorsey’s fintech company – Block. He also promoted this partnership via Twitter, encouraging users to “buy bitcoin from an exchange and move it to a hardware key you control”.
